This is my SPRING table center that I just finished. I have a class coming up in mid April where I'm teaching machine quilting on home sewing machines. Plus in mid May, I have a class/demo at the library showing English paper piecing. With these two in mind, I thought I would make something to show both parts of quilting. If you know me, you know I love English paper piecing and I love stars. Using some leftover Fig Tree fabrics and some Lily and Will scraps, I pieced this ring. Then I appliqued it to a 17" background piece. The little center circle was appliqued on last. The batting in this also leftovers... one piece of scrap cotton and on top of that, one piece of wool. It makes this very puffy.

Very nice teaching piece. Love the soft colors and the simple design just gets lifted with the wool batt and quilting.
Deb, I sure wish you would do a video tutorial on home machine quilting! I NEED one! lol On a better note, I love your table topper!
So nice to hear from you, Sherry! I think you're right. I'll have Al help me do one. My biggest hint is to use invisible thread on the top, regular thread in the bobbin. Make sure it's a good brand of invisible like YLI Wonder thread. It's so much thinner than the old stuff we used to use. This is just a little thicker than a hair. I use it for quite a few of my projects like tablerunners, placemats, etc. Take care!
Deb,
That is so you, such soft pretty colors. I just love the pattern, one would look so nice on my sewing table. ha ha.
Thanks, Rebecca. Yes, you're right, I love most of Fig Tree fabrics. The soft corals, yellows and aquas are some of my favorites.
