Finished Quilts!

This page is going to show all my finished quilts....or as many as I can find pictures of. There are many "first" quilts that are gone.... given away...out in the world...no pictures that I can find.
These will not be in any order but if I know when it was started or completed or who has it, I'll note that.
This purple scrap quilt was started as a way to get rid of way too many purple scrap. As I was making it I thought of my neice who loves purple. So this became Suzy's in the winter of 2021.

Six-point Stars is a scrappy quilt made of vintage and reproduction fabrics. This is Lisa's"wedding quilt" but didnt get finished till years later. It's all hand-pieced and hand-quilted. This is my first EPP (English Paper Pieced) quilt. It took over 7 years to piece. I worked on it as we traved to Arizona and Florida, did it as I waited for my mom's surgeries at U of M and as I attended "chattertime" on Fridays at the Charlevoix quilt shop (Hearts to Holly). Finished April of 2022, given to her September, 2022.

Finished in May of 2020, this quilt is Jennifer’s now. It’s one of my favorite stash and scraps quilt. The pink fabric was a large piece just taking up room in my stash and the rest of the fabrics are scraps, mostly shirtings.

This quilt I call the Charlevoix Quilt. We were living in Charlevoix when Minick & Simpson came out with their Charlevoix line. I was working at Hearts to Holly and bought a bit (😂😳) of it. This quilt is entirely that line, even the backing. The pattern is my own...I played around with different ideas until this one. I didnt want to add a border so that it had a more vintage feel. This is my quilt, used for picnics, the beach and cozying up.
Started around 2011?...Finished Aug 2019

This black, white and lime quilt is called my Happy Man Quilt. Some of the black & white print is an Australian fabric that my friend Jenell from Lexington, OK shared with me YEARS ago. In that Aboriginal print fabric, there's a happy man (you'll know when you find him😱). I had an acrylic diamond template that I was dying to try out, so I created this pattern to make use of it. This quilt used up a good amount of black & white fabrics that I recieved during an internet forum swap. I was part of a couple of forums before IG came along. One was "Block Central" and the other was "The Quilt and Needle". I own this quilt because Al likes it, although I had considered giving it away. Finished Feb 2015. Taken to the farm in spring 2025 because Rick once mentioned liking it and we have too many at home now!

This Red Maple Leaf quilt is one of my earliest quilts. I copied a maple leaf block I had seen in an old magazine. This used 80's and 90's fabrics (maybe not all cotton?), poly batting, and is hand quilted. It's not a well-made quilt. I was learning...actually teaching myself...to quilt. It was started (I'm guessing) in the early 90s. When it was finished, I sent it to the farm (my brother's share a farm in the U.P. of Michigan). I have no idea if it's packed away or in use.
Finished Jan 2017.

This one is Charlie’s I-Spy “ball” quilt. He’s loved balls and sports since he was pretty little. I put a different kind of ball in each star plus a few other things he likes.

M brother Rick needed a warm quilt so when I won some blocks online YEARS ago, I made this quilt. On a forum I was part of, we’d chose a category or style of blocks to make. For every block you promised to make, your name went into the pot for the big drawing. Two names were always picked. Winners had blocks sent to them from all over the U.S., Canada and Europe. These were from when I won. They were very “campy”. I added the brown and tan hst sashing and a small border.

A "mug rug" or tiny quilt...this was made just for fun. It used some scraps and was given away when finished. I designed a handful of Mug Rugs. I couldn't say who has this. Made December 2016.
This was made as a sample for Hearts to Holly Quilt Shop. It is not my pattern (most of my quilts are my own design). This was given to my mom who always loved my quilts and after she passed, was given to my daughter Jenn.
Finished?
This is one of many Rainbow Quilts. Ive participated in the #rainbowscrapchallenge for many years. These were older, unused blocks. It was a great way to get rid of scraps and slowly create some fun quilts. This one was finished up for a great-niece (my nephew, Jimmy's daughter). I'm trying to get a quilt made for each family member. This was Cementine's...finished Nov 2021

Another Rainbow Scrap Challenge quilt, this one was made for great niece Evelyn. This was a 2022 RSC project. I did 4 different blocks each month in 2022, to make 4 different quilts. One set of blocks was given to a friend who's daughter really liked them. Of the three other sets, one is a top, this is a quilt and one set I'm still adding to this year. It will be a 2022/2023 quilt. I finished this 🌈  quilt on March 7, 2023.

Blue Scrap Strip Quilt:
This is an old one. I made it WAY back, when we lived in Charlevoix. My box of blue fabric was overflowing, this was the solution to getting blue scraps under control. It didn't even make a dent!🤣 I still have this one, we take to the beaches and parks.

Just finished this red and white quilt in January of 2025. I always wanted a 2 color quilt. When Al and I were in Florida a few years back, I bought some red and white cotton, and drew up my own orange peel block.i planned, at the time, to make this quilt from just orange peels (that’s what the leaf looking appliqué is called). But after cutting 16 and stitching them onto the white, I was bored. So I packed them away. When we moved into our new house, I found these and thought, it’s time to finish this. COMPLETE change of plans… designed the block with the four orange peels and a plus sign… added the checkerboard then designed the snowflake block. Finished it and am so happy to FINALLY own a red & white quilt.

This is my finished American Jane quilt... a favorite beach quilt until my daughter claimed it (that makes me happy). I used all my American Jane fabrics plus some odd scraps but needed more so a few yrs ago I asked quilters for AJ leftovers. They delivered! Big thanks to my IG friend Lauren for sending so many! This is my own design... kind of my own round robin. I just kept adding to it until I felt it was large enough and fininshed. I have my "pattern" if you can call it that, on my highlights on Instagram (@northerndebquilts).

I don’t have a good picture of this quilt. I made it as an “ugly” challenge. We were given an ugly fat quarter by swapping on a forum. This one was a winter scene of a swamp with dead looking trees and snow. I put the piece in the center of every star then added fabrics that brought out the prettier colors of the fq. The back of this is a wild mix of all masculine scraps. My youngest brother has this one.

This is another quilt that I just don’t have a decent picture of. I made it for my husband’s friend that lives in the mountains in Colorado. When my husband visited he got really ill from the altitude and the friend helped him through it. He made him dinner, got him oxygen and put extra heat in his room to help him recover. I couldn’t thank him enough.
Made for my sister, these were another set of blocks I won. These are really old photos..terrible quality but at least I have a picture.

This was another I-Spy (I think I’ve done 5? so far). This was made for Charlie. I made one for his brother Henry too but his was lost on a trip out west.

This fun I-Spy quilt was made for my great neice, Delia. I love making these. They’re 6” blocks made using a novelty fabric center surrounded by shirting scraps.
Another I spy… this was made for Lewis, a great-nephew, a few year back (Jan of 2022 finish) because I’d like each of my family members to have a quilt. These are so much fun. I use some favorite shirting fabrics and cute novelty pieces.

Just finished in 2025, these two flannel, puffy quilts were made for my two grandsons. They both wanted a super comfy quilt that had a soft backing (minky), high loft batting (poly) and flannel top. I tied these two to keep them very fluffy.

This quilt was one of my first Rainbow Scrap Challenge quilts. I used scraps to make the thread on the spools and bobbins. No pattern for this, just made it up as I went along.

Boy, this was a long time ago! When this pattern came out, I knew I had to buy it and make Henry a doggie quilt. It was a ton of work but SO worth it. I think it was by Elizabeth Hartman, Dogs in Sweaters pattern.

Not sure if I took a pic of this quilt when it was finished but now it lives with my sister. This was a fun scrappy quilt that I pieced as I was making other quilts.... as a leader/ender quilt.

I made two of these quilts, one for Al and one for my brother Karl. This pattern made a wall hanging size. I blew it up to bed size and changed it just a bit.

This one above is OLD.. probably 90s? I was just learning to do different patterns.

This quilt was a kit at Hearts to Holly quilt shop. I bought two, made one for myself and one for my mom. She loved hers… it was a cozy brushed flannel, so it was always nearby in the cooler months. When she passed away, we tucked it around her before they closed her casket.

I think this quilt is called Spools. I made it as a sample at Hearts to Holly quilt shop. It hung in my sewing room for a long time too.

More finishes coming soon….
